The PowerEdge TM1655MC is the new ultra rack-dense general-purpose server that has been designed to deliver new levels of performance, availability, and scalability in a space-saving 3U form factor supporting up to 6 blades.

A very elegant solution to rack space and multiple server management issues. The PowerEdge 1655MC architecture is new, yet simple. The 3U enclosure, offering 2x the density of today's 1U servers, contains the redundant power supplies and cooling fans and KVM and Ethernet Switches which are shared across as many as six dual processor server blades.

Enclosure Input Devices
Remote management card with integrated keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) switch. Switch uses the same, intuitive On-Screen menu found on current Dell rackmounted KVM switches. Supports local KVM connection or can be "tiered" into existing rack-mounted analog or KVM over IPTM infrastructures.

Each switch has 6 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) inputs with 4 copper GbE uplinks (uplink ports support trunking/port aggregation). NICs on blades are routed to the switches internally through the midplane without cables.
Each blade has independent Ethernet connections to each switch, so there are redundant Ethernet paths into and out of the enclosure.

Each server blade has a USB port which supports an external bootable USB CD or floppy drive. USB CD can be used in conjunction with Dell OpenManage Server Assistant (DSA) to locally load an OS.
